Here is one man’s collection of ’80s sweaters, accompanied by some killer commentary. I got a good laugh out of this, so maybe you will too.
Note that he does use the F-word a couple times in his commentary but it’s used sparingly and in a humorous spirit (if you’re sensitive to that kind of thing or were planning on forwarding this to folks who are sensitive to that kind of thing).

For the two of you who haven’t already heard, Martha Stewart was gifted with a hand crocheted poncho from one of her sister inmates upon Martha’s recent release from prison. Apparently folks thought it was made with Homespun yarn and Lion Brand was deluged with requests for a pattern; they have complied and posted their take on the poncho pattern on their site.
Interestingly, lots of folks in knitting groups everywhere had some strong opinions about the whole deal - here was Martha and Lion Brand making out like bandits from the free publicity while this poor crocheter is left with nothing, etc. So it was not much of a surprise to find the following blurb posted along with Lion Brand’s web pattern:
“Lion Brand would like to recognize the woman who hand-crocheted the now-famous poncho for Martha Stewart for her return home. The New York Post reported that her name was Xiomaro Hernandez. We honor her creativity and the wonderful inspiration she has provided for everyone who is now encouraged to crochet. Lion Brand will make a donation of yarn and needles to the Alderson prison facility in honor of her work and her generosity.”

Have you ever entertained the thought of raising your own fuzzy animals and spinning your own yarn? While I can’t offer any advice for raising fuzzy animals, I can let you know about a spinning guild here in L.A. which welcomes newbies to come try their hand. Come to a meeting, borrow some materials, and give it a try!

FYI, both Sirdar and Bernat are recalling yarns due to their flammable nature. If you have purchased the yarns listed they ask for them to be returned. Sirdar will replace the skeins with the new version of the yarn, Bernat is offering a refund. Both are asking for the skeins and any items made with the yarn. Please visit their websites for more information.
