I frequently bring my knitting to family gatherings, so prople are used to seeing me working on projects after we’ve cleaned up from our meal. So when my sister-in-law and her friend approached me at a Labor Day BBQ with the question, “When are you going to make me a poncho?” it wasn’t entirely unexpected.
I found this pattern in Mrs. Who’s weblog, which she designed for her daughter (unfortunately, her blog seems to have disappeared, but I’ve found the pattern is also posted here).
It seemed pretty simple and I likes the design, so I thought this might be a good choice for my SIL. It was written sized for a pre-teen, so I made it larger by increasing the number of starting chain stitches and repeating the 10- and 11-chain rows until it seemed long enough (my SIL is a bit taller than me, so it’s a tad longer on someone my height)
